When you search 'rate my singing', you probably want a useful answer, not a mysterious number. Rate My Singing gives you a local acoustic report: held-note steadiness, a detected note range, and a pitch curve you can inspect while listening back. It cannot judge the whole musical performance, and it says so.

Give Rate My Singing a clear solo vocal

Choose a short verse, chorus, or a few comfortable held notes. Rate My Singing works best with one voice and no backing track. Instruments and other singers can pull the pitch detector away from your voice.

Keep reverb and vocal effects off when possible. Rate My Singing measures the audio you provide, including distortion, room echo, or processing already present in the file. A plain recording gives Rate My Singing a clearer starting point and makes it easier for you to connect an unusual measurement with something you can actually hear.

Record here or choose an existing file

Use the recording button to sing directly into Rate My Singing. Allow microphone access when your browser asks, then sing for at least five seconds. You can stop when your phrase is finished; the recorder ends automatically at sixty seconds.

You can also give Rate My Singing an existing audio file from your device. Files must be between five seconds and two minutes long and no larger than twenty-five megabytes. Rate My Singing can read formats such as WAV, MP3, and M4A when your browser supports them. If decoding fails, try a different format or make a fresh recording.

What the Rate My Singing score measures

The main Rate My Singing score describes held-note steadiness. It looks at changes between neighboring moments of detected voice, excludes large pitch jumps, and asks how often the remaining changes are small. This is an experimental measurement of pitch movement.

Rate My Singing can give a steady but incorrect note a high value because it does not know the melody you intended. Vibrato and slides may lower the value even when you use them deliberately. Read the Rate My Singing score alongside the recording and the explanation, rather than treating one number as an answer to whether you can sing.

Follow the line while you listen back

The pitch curve in Rate My Singing shows how detected notes move through your recording. A fairly level stretch usually represents a held pitch; rising and falling stretches show movement. Gaps mean a clear pitch was not found at those moments. They can come from pauses, consonants, breathy sounds, noise, or limits of the detector.

Play the recording and notice which musical moments correspond to the shape. Rate My Singing is most useful when a visual observation leads to a listening question: did you mean to slide into that note, or did it drift? Rate My Singing does not align your voice to a musical score, so the line alone cannot tell you which interpretation is correct.

Make sense of the other measurements

Rate My Singing reports a detected range using the fifth and ninety-fifth percentiles of the voiced pitch readings. In ordinary terms, it leaves out a small portion of the most extreme readings at each end. That helps brief glitches have less influence, but the range still describes this particular recording rather than your complete vocal ability.

The clear-pitched-frames percentage tells you how much of the analyzed clip produced a usable pitch reading. Rate My Singing may report a low percentage for a clip with long pauses or noisy accompaniment. Rate My Singing also checks clipping, which can suggest that your microphone input was too loud.

Turn Rate My Singing feedback into an experiment

Pick one observation from Rate My Singing and test a small change. If a held note wanders, sing that note again at an easy volume and listen for a more settled sound. If the report mentions clipping, move slightly away from the microphone or reduce the input level. Make another take using the same short passage.

Comparing similar recordings is more helpful than comparing unrelated songs. Rate My Singing cannot make a quiet ballad and an expressive run equally demanding. Keep the phrase and setup similar so you can hear what changed. You can download a Rate My Singing report for your own notes, but the site does not keep a cloud collection of your recordings.

A private check, without an account

Rate My Singing analyzes microphone audio and selected files in your browser. There is no remote AI model receiving your singing, and this version does not upload recordings to a server. You can listen to the temporary recording while the page remains open. Leaving the tool clears its working audio from the application rather than creating an online archive.

A report you download is different: that copy stays wherever you save it. Rate My Singing cannot remove files from your downloads folder or control another app you use to share them. Our Privacy Policy explains the distinction between temporary audio, local practice history, and ordinary website requests. Rate My Singing never requires you to post a performance publicly.

Choose a different tool for a different question

If your real question is 'can I match the right note?', use the Singing Test after Rate My Singing. That exercise supplies reference notes and compares your answers with them. For comfortable upper and lower limits, choose Vocal Range. Rate My Singing instead gives you a view of what happened in a recording you chose yourself.

For musical expression, diction, timing, or stylistic feedback, a thoughtful human listener can add what Rate My Singing does not measure. Share a recording only when you want to, and ask a specific question. Use Rate My Singing to support that conversation, not replace your own ears.

GOOD QUESTIONS

A few things
you might wonder.

Getting to know your voice
should feel simple.

Can Rate My Singing tell if I sang in tune?+

Rate My Singing has no reference melody for your recording, so it cannot verify the intended notes. Use the Singing Test for reference-based pitch accuracy.

Is Rate My Singing an AI judge?+

No. Rate My Singing uses local signal processing. It reports pitch steadiness, detected range, and recording observations, without a remote AI model or a professional performance grade.

Which files does Rate My Singing accept?+

Rate My Singing accepts browser-supported audio formats, including WAV, MP3, and M4A. Choose a solo clip between five seconds and two minutes, no larger than twenty-five megabytes.

Does Rate My Singing save my audio?+

Rate My Singing keeps working audio temporarily in your browser. It does not create a server copy. Downloads you choose to save remain on your device until you delete them.

Can you rate my singing out of 10?+

No, and any tool that reduces a voice to one number is oversimplifying. What you get here is a steadiness percentage, a detected range, and a pitch curve — measurements you can act on, rather than a verdict.

What kind of recording gives the fairest result?+

Ten to thirty seconds of solo singing at a steady volume, close to the microphone, in a quiet room. Held notes and simple phrases are easier to read than fast runs, heavy vibrato, or a chorus with layered vocals.
